Plant Processor

Whidbey Island Seafood Company provides consumers, business, and wholesalers with the highest quality wild-caught sustainable seafood sourced from the Pacific Northwest. We’re looking for a Plant Processor who can add value to our Smokehouse and Processing facility with daily operations and help scale the company’s growth.
This person will help the team with preparing and fulfilling meat and seafood orders from various customer types including direct to consumer, grocery stores, and private label business, as well as maintaining the standards of the facility. The ideal candidate is someone who is a hard worker and wants to learn and grow with the company. They will report directly to the Plant Manager and be involved all aspects of product operations.
Responsibilities & Daily Tasks:
- Filleting and processing seafood and meat products.
- Using commercial vacuum sealers and packaging equipment.
- Labeling and managing multiple lines of products.
- Loading meat and seafood products in and out of commercial smokers.
- Washing dishes and processing utensils.
- Unloading meat and seafood products from distributors.
- Cleaning scales and cutting areas.
- Fulfilling and shipping customer orders for our ecommerce business.
- Willingness and ability to learn about our products.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Assisting in other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6 to 8 hours.
- Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
- Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
- Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
- Exposure to temperatures: less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), greater than 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, knives, electric pallet jacks, forklifts, hand trucks, six-wheel carts, balers, and other heavy machinery.

- Ability to read, write and do simple math problems.
- Ability to interpret, understand and follow instructions and solve problems.
