Cape Romanzof Fisheries
Cape Romanzof Fisheries catches and processes seafood from some of the world’s healthiest sustainable fisheries. The Bering Sea longline fishery for Pacific Cod, for example, has recently been certified as sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council. The commercial fisheries of Alaska’s Bering Sea are widely regarded as the best managed in the world. Cape Romanzof Fisheries and our partners are committed to making sure they remain a superior example of how fisheries can be managed on a sustainable basis.
Learn MoreDangerous Cape
The F/V Dangerous Cape sustainably harvests halibut and sablefish in the Gulf of Alaska under an Individual Fishing Quota program mandated by the federal government. The vessel is based out of Homer, Alaska and is a family-run operation Captained by lifelong commercial fisherman Erik Velsko. Erik has been involved in Alaska’s commercial fisheries since a very young age, and has been a part of many of Alaska’s iconic fisheries. He has extensive experience in the Bering Sea crab and cod fisheries, but in recent years has returned to his childhood fishing grounds to be closer to his wife, Lacey, and their three young children Britta (9), Estelle (7) and Leo (5). He also travels to Bristol Bay each summer to operate his gillnet vessel Dire Straits in the competitive sockeye salmon fishery. All three children and Lacey have spent time onboard the family boats during spring and summer fishing operations. Leo began his fishing career at the age of three on a short halibut longline trip in the local waters of Cook Inlet with Erik and Leo’s grandfather John.
Learn MoreNerka Salmon
The F/V Nerka crew spends their summers trolling Southeast Alaska’s pristine outer coast, open-water fishermen harvesting ocean-run salmon, wild as their surroundings. They chase king salmon through the shadows of glaciers, forty miles offshore in the Gulf of Alaska’s iconic Fairweather Grounds.

Learn MoreSt. Jude Tuna
The St. Jude is more than just a 95-foot fishing vessel; it’s a testament to the Malley family's enduring commitment to sustainable fishing and quality seafood. Fishing 12 months a year, the St. Jude follows Albacore tuna from the North Pacific in summer to the South Pacific in fall. Each Albacore is individually caught on hooks and lures dragged behind the boat, ensuring minimal impact on the ocean’s food chain. On average, only two non-target species are caught per thousand Albacore, demonstrating the precision and sustainability of this method
