Cooking Raw King Crab

There are several ways to cook and prepare raw King Crab.

Cooking Instructions (with shell):

  • Steam – steam frozen legs in the shell for 20 minutes preferably in a steamer basket with a few inches of water. Let the legs cool for 10 minutes then remove meat from shell using kitchen shears by cutting down the length of the leg and remove meat.

Cooking Instructions (no shell):

Thaw out the crab in the refrigerator. Once thawed, use kitchen shears to cut open shell and remove meat. Place meat in a colander to drain.

  • Steam – steam meat in a steamer basket with lemon and herbs until cooked, 10-15 minutes depending on thickness.
  • Sear – sear on top of the stove on medium-high heat with a tablespoon of olive oil and spices (if desired) for 10-15 minutes.
  • Roast – roast in the oven with some olive oil at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
Crab can be served warm with butter and lemon or perfect for crab rolls and crab salad
