Rockfish Tacos: The Seafood Dinner You’ll Want on Repeat

-

If you’ve never tried rockfish tacos, you’re in for a treat. Rockfish is one of the most versatile and underrated white fish—mild, flaky, and perfect for bold flavors. And when it’s tucked into a warm tortilla with fresh toppings and a squeeze of lime? That’s dinner magic.

Bonus: Rockfish is often more affordable than halibut or cod, but still delivers big on flavor and texture. Win-win.

Easy Rockfish Taco Recipe (In Under 30 Minutes)

Serves: 2–3
Prep time: 10 mins
Cook time: 10 mins

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Whidbey Seafoods Rockfish

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced

  • ½ tsp dried oregano

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • 6 small corn or flour tortillas

  • 1 cup shredded cabbage or slaw mix

  • ½ cup chopped cilantro

  • ½ avocado, sliced

  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

  • Optional: crema, chipotle mayo, or pickled onions for topping

  • Instructions:

    1. Season the fish: In a bowl, toss rockfish fillets with olive oil, paprika, cumin, oregano, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.

    2. Cook: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Sear fillets for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through. Let rest for a few minutes, then flake into large pieces.

    3. Warm the tortillas: Toast briefly in a dry pan or wrap in foil and warm in the oven.

    4. Assemble: Layer fish, slaw, avocado, and cilantro into tortillas. Top with your favorite sauce or salsa.

    5. Finish: Squeeze fresh lime juice over each taco and serve immediately.
